I have the pleasure to be Parish Priest in the Church of England parish of The Ascension, Stirchley, in the south Birmingham suburbs.
The church is, I think, a particularly fine modern building, designed by the architect Romilly Craze in the early 70s. On the Dad's Lane Estate, it is set back from Pineapple Road, a shortcut between Edgbaston, Cannon Hill Park and the King's Norton area. Many drivers who pass would not notice it, with eyes rightly intent on the traffic. Yet it is a distinctive building worth entering, to discover its peaceful atmosphere and its Tardis-like feeling of spaciousness.
I would like to show you around this lovely church. As you look at the picture above, the church is on the left, and on the right of the bell-tower is the church-hall.This was previously a church in its own right, as is mentioned on the History page. The Vicarage is behind the church, with its driveway to the left of the church. To see inside (the church that is, not the vicarage!), please look at the Our church page, which has many beautiful photos - see also Easter at The Ascension. You can if you wish visit our Stations of the Cross online
If you would like to see who we are, there are many pictures on People and faces. The page called What we do has information about our services - other activities in the church and hall are listed on Notices and events. If you are not sure what we are about, then look at a page headed Our beliefs.
