Lovely church. I can see why my aunt, Phyllis Callaway used to like it so much

As its my job this coming Sunday to do the Intercessions at St Barnabas Hove, I have asked for prayers especially for the Priest and congregation of the Ascension Stirchley where I learnt my faith and spent so many wonderful years in my youth. My love and prayers to you all. Tony Kimpton

Have just been looking at your web site fantastic, like Tony Kimpton(my cousin) I too was baptised (by Fr Rider-1940 whom I believe was curate at that time) confirmed by Bishop Hughes in 1953. Very fond memories will visit you one of the days.Good to read Michael Walker`s account of the old days, wonderful memories of the church hall & the British Retauant, we used to play badmington in the hall as well. Jim Potter a very good friend who I might add has been an enormous help to St Mary the Virgin Lapworth during our interregnum, my brother Jim & I all grew up in Stirchley and servers, Jim was married there 48yrs ago on the 30th September please pray for them. also good to see Allison still going strong. hope to see you at on a Thursday Mass sooner rather than later. I also see the Bishop Michael Whinney is a member of your congregation now, he is celebrating mass for us this Sunday 20th September. could go on, so many people of long gone that I could name. See you soon hopefully. Alan.

As someone who was baptised, confirmed and brought up at the "old" Ascension its wonderful to see this website especially the historical bit. I visited the "new" Ascension yesterday 16th August 2009 and want to say a big thank you to everyone who made me so welcome. It was so nice to see so many of the "old" faces still there.

Hi - I'm a friend of Mo Collins - she said the church was a very peaceful place and it certainly looks that way. The stained glass window is very beautiful.
Best Wishes - Sue XH

Thank you for inviting me to the Seder experience ( a Jewish Passover meal).
I found it very informative and had a wonderful time.
The food was excellent,
well done to you and Patricia for all your hard work.
