Church of The Ascension

WELCOME to the parish church of Stirchley, Birmingham

Our services

Worship at The Ascension is firmly Anglican, in the modern catholic tradition, and liberal in its theology. We are traditional in that we have vestments. and incense at our main sung service.

     Our main Sunday services are:-

      8.45am Said Morning Prayer

9.00am Said Holy Communion (quieter service in the Chapel of Our Lady and St Hugh)

10.15am Sung Mass with sermon ( small children are not a problem - and parents often use the Lady Chapel for part of the service,     where there are toys and books)

Approximately once a month there is the Family Service - this is usually just 1/2 hour, easy-going and child-friendly.You will be very welcome, whether or not you are familiar with church. NOTE  you don't have to have kids to come!!   coming dates -Palm Sunday 28th March at 12 noon, April 25th at 12 noon.

Baptisms (Christenings) are often held at the 10.15 am service, the service being altered accordingly, but they can be arranged separately, and generally this is at 12 noon on Sunday.

The midweek services are :-

10.00am on Thursday - said Morning Prayer

10.15am on Thursday - said Mass

During Holy Week there are services each evening, and special evening masses are celebrated on some feast days.

See for yourself

If you would like to see what our services look like, go to page Easter at The Ascension and see pictures of an actual service when Fr Stephen Huckle was Vicar.

In due course I would like to be able to add some examples of our music on MP3 files, but that is another project
